Programming for Web Design +Intro to App Development for Black TGNC Entrepreneurs & Freelance Artists

As we all (should) know by now the tech industry is highly saturated with Cis white men and with little accessibility to the Black Trans community. So Molasses will offering a digital (Via twitch/zoom) 9 week intro course on Programming , Web Design, and App development for individuals interested in coding + looking to learn knew skills to help develop their business.

In this course will cover the basics of 

Classes begin Saturday January 9th at and occur every Saturday 11a-2pm

$150 per workshop ($1350 total) which covers:

Course materials,

Payment for the Instructor/Guest speakers

Subscriptions to necessary software.

You are not required to sign up for every week though it is strongly encouraged to gain the full range of what this series has to offer.

Though this course is modeled after a classroom course there will not be assignments, grading, or any credit. This is a project based course we encourage picking a project that holds relevance to or can be used for your business/craft/art. Though there will be a showcase at the end, the goal is not to create a space for critique but rather pertinent professional feedback. The instructor is not there to critique you but to share these skills and knowledge and provide crucial professional feedback for you and your business.

Week 1:

Intro into Project-based learning & Warm up projects

Python & JavaScript Bases

Week 2:

Object oriented programming

HTML for web development

CSS for web development

Week 3:

How to use Xcode for Apple development 

Week 4:

Building your first app

Guest Speaker (TBA)

Week 5:

Building you first app pt 2

Week 6:

Workday + Peer Feedback Sessions

Week 7:

E-commerce, Portfolio, and Information

Aesthetics & Branding, Guest Speaker (TBA)

Week 8:

Building your first app pt 3

Digital Panel discussion on Black Queer Tech culture + Development

Week 9:

Final Review + Professional feedback session
